Fall color is an unbelievable yellow. Fruit, which is 1/2 inch long, is a beautiful scarlet in the fall. Very tolerant of shade. Small yellow flowers bloom in early April before the plant leafs out. Leaf and stem smell of lemon when crushed. The pioneers used the fruit as a spice, hence its name.

Mature size: 6 -12' high, 6 - 12' wide
